Context
Temporary structures are often associated with the staging of events (stage shows, sporting events...). The setting-up operations are done in a hurry, and their temporary nature often dictates the absence of any system of collective protection.
The setting-up operations may be folloed by:

• moving about on the structure during the event (repairs, modifications, moving of lighting or scenery)
• maintenance
• dismantling

All these actions are carried out using PPE

Techniques
With aid from the structure:

• fall arrest: self protection on the structure using an energy absorbing lanyard or a pre-intalled safety rope
• work positioning: in tension on an adjustable lanyard fixed around the structure

Without aid from the structure: vertical movement on a working rope with protection from a safety rope.
For the raising of structural elements, hauling systems are appropriate.
