Context
On roofs and slopes, the risk of a slip and fall is real and the installation of collective protection systems is difficult. However, the worker must be able to keep both hands free to concentrate on the task at hand.

Techniques
The use of PPE is an effective means to provide comfort and safety to the worker.
The following techniques can be used:

• work positioning using an adjustable lanyard
• placement of fixed anchors on the roof or at the foot of the building
• installation of a temporary lifeline
• pre-installed anchor points
• crampons for very steep slopes
• fall arrest systems (energy absorber, portable fall arrest device + safety rope)..
