When installing these, whether permanently or temporarily, it is often necessary to use PPE

Techniques
With aid from the structure:

• fall arrest: self protection on the structure using an energy absorbing lanyard or a pre-installed safety rope
• work positioning: in tension on an adjustible lanyard fixed around the structure.

Without aid from the structure:

• using work positioning from a work rope, and protected by a safety rope.
